Grooming Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions for our Grooming Services.

1. Appointments & Bookings

Appointments can be booked via phone, message, social media, or email.

Owners must provide accurate information regarding their dog’s health, behaviour, and grooming history.

AJ’s Pet Services reserves the right to refuse or stop a groom at any time if a dog becomes distressed, aggressive, unwell, or unsafe to handle.

2. Health & Welfare

All dogs attending appointments must:

  • Be fit and healthy for grooming

  • Be free from contagious illnesses

  • Be treated for fleas and parasites

  • Be suitably vaccinated or titre tested where appropriate

If fleas are discovered during the groom, additional cleaning or treatment charges may apply.

Senior dogs, rescue dogs, puppies, or dogs with medical conditions are groomed entirely at the owner’s risk.

If emergency veterinary treatment is required and the owner cannot be contacted, AJ’s Pet Services reserves the right to seek veterinary attention immediately. Any veterinary costs remain the owner’s responsibility.

3. Matting Policy

Severely matted coats can cause pain and discomfort. In the interest of animal welfare, AJ’s Pet Services may clip short or remove matting where necessary.

Owners understand that:

  • Matted coats may hide underlying skin conditions

  • Minor irritation, redness, or small nicks may occasionally occur during de-matting

  • Coat texture and appearance may change after clipping

Additional charges may apply for severely matted coats.

4. Behaviour & Safety

Owners must disclose any history of:

  • Biting

  • Aggression

  • Nervous behaviour

  • Anxiety

  • Escape tendencies

  • Muzzles or safety equipment may be used where necessary.

If a dog displays dangerous behaviour, the groom may be stopped immediately, and grooming charges may still apply.

5. Late Arrivals & Collection

Please arrive on time for all appointments and collections.

Late arrivals may result in:

  • Reduced grooming time

  • Rescheduling

  • Cancellation fees

Dogs must be collected promptly after notification. Additional daycare charges may apply for delayed collections.

6. Cancellation & No Shows

A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is appreciated for cancellations or appointment changes.

AJ’s Pet Services reserves the right to charge for:

  • Missed appointments

  • Last-minute cancellations

  • Repeated rescheduling

Future bookings may require deposits following repeated no-shows.

7. Cancellation by AJ’s Pet Services

While every effort will be made to honour confirmed bookings, AJ’s Pet Services reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, or refuse appointments at short notice due to:

  • Illness

  • Family emergencies

  • Vehicle breakdowns

  • Unsafe weather conditions

  • Equipment failure

  • Animal welfare concerns

  • Circumstances beyond our control

Clients will be notified as soon as possible, and any payments made will be refunded or transferred to another appointment date, where agreed.

As a small family-run business, flexibility and understanding are appreciated.

8. Home-Based Salon Policy

AJ’s Pet Services operates from a private home-based salon.

Clients agree to:

  • Not park on double yellow lines or block neighbouring properties or driveways

  • Only use the AJ’s Pet Services driveway if specifically advised that it is available

  • Otherwise, use nearby public parking areas where possible

  • Arrive at the exact appointment or collection time provided to avoid congestion

  • Ring the bell located at the gate upon arrival

  • Wait at the gate whilst a member of AJ’s Pet Services collects or returns your dog

  • Keep dogs on leads and under control at all times

  • Keep noise to a minimum out of respect for neighbours

For safety and insurance reasons:

  • Owners may not always be permitted to remain during grooming appointments

  • Only dogs booked for appointments may enter the grooming area

  • Children must remain supervised at all times

9. Photography & Social Media

Photos and videos may occasionally be taken for:

  • Social media

  • Website content

  • Advertising and promotional purposes

Please inform AJ’s Pet Services if you do not wish your dog to appear online.

10. Payments

Payment is due upon collection unless agreed otherwise.

Accepted payment methods:

  • Cash

  • Bank transfer

Outstanding balances may result in the refusal of future bookings.

11. Personal Belongings

AJ’s Pet Services accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to collars, leads, harnesses, coats, toys, or personal belongings left on the premises.

OWNER DECLARATION

By accepting our Terms & Conditions when submitting your agreement with us, you confirm that:

  • I am the legal owner or authorised handler of the dog(s) listed above

  • All information provided is accurate to the best of my knowledge

  • I understand and accept the terms and conditions outlined above

  • I authorise AJ’s Pet Services to seek veterinary treatment in an emergency if required

  • I understand grooming may uncover pre-existing medical or skin conditions

  • I agree to the home salon access and parking policies
